Cities reach agreement on long-term strategic cooperation relationship
APSEC to work with Turpan City, Bitung City to improve cities’ international impact

CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA –Two Strategic City Partners, including Turpan City, People’s Republic of China and Bitung City, Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the APSEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities earlier this month.
On the afternoon of May 9, the two parties reached an agreement on the establishment of Long-term Strategic Cooperation Relationship. APSEC would work together with both cities to improve cities’ international impact.
The signing – which occurred at National Convention Center in Canberra during the APEC Sustainable Cities Mayors Joint Meeting and Government-Industry-Finance Coalition for Cities Sustainable Development, was done by Deputy Mayor of Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur and Deputy Mayor of Bitung City, North Sulawesi, Indonesia Maurits Mantiri – on behalf of their municipal government.
APSEC established APEC Cooperative Network for Low Carbon Energy Efficient Cities and APEC Sustainable City Service Network. Local governments including Australian Capital Territory (ACT), South Australia, Bitung City, Turpan City, Kunming City, Tianjin City and Zhenjiang City were involved in APEC Cooperative Network for Low Carbon Energy Efficient Cities.
Maoneng Group participates as a key stakeholder of the APEC Sustainable Cities Network Establishment. In addition, over 10 other organizations join the network including CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (Hong Kong), CLP Holdings Limited, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, Vector Limited (New Zealand), Collaborative Outcomes (Australia), Tianjin University, University of South Australia, Australian National University, Australia-Indonesia Center, Tianjin Innovative Finance Low Carbon Institute.

These organizations will focus on research and development of sustainable energy technology across APEC region to lead cities’ sustainable development together with APSEC.
